A few thoughts about a very important subject....

Parenting

A few Parenting Tips....

1. Be a parent, not a friend.

2. Kids of all ages often express anger with hurtful words. Don't take these words personally. Remember that they are trying to communicate their feelings. Listen. Let them know you are listening by saying something like: " I hear you are very angry with me. " or "I would be angry too, if I were in your place".

3. Speak in short sentences. Make your point. Do not repeat it.

4. Apologize when you are wrong or have done something you regret. Your apology may defuse the moment. And it will SHOW your child that it is okay to admit you/they were wrong! Good role modeling. Remember, kids do learn from what they see, not what they hear.
